Need assistance? We’re here for you.

  • Emergency Relief

We can assist individuals in need with rent or utility bills once per year. Emergency Relief funds are not guaranteed and are distributed at the sole discretion of the Centenary staff.

To request emergency relief, either fill out the form below (scroll down) or visit the church in person while the office is open. If you stop by in person, you must bring a paper copy of your lease (if requesting rent assistance) or utility bill (if requesting utilities assistance).

If we are able to provide emergency relief, a check will be written directly from the church to either the landlord or the utilities company. We do not mail checks; checks must be picked up in person by the individual requesting assistance.

  • Food Closet

The Smithfield Area Ministries Food Closet is open on Thursdays only from 9:30-11:45 a.m. and 2:00-4:30 p.m.

Before visiting the food closet, you must obtain a paper voucher from either Johnston-Lee-Harnett Community Action or Johnston County Social Services.

Visit our Food Closet page to learn more about receiving food assistance.

  • Prayer & Pastoral Care

If you need someone to sit with you, offer a listening ear, and pray over your circumstance, we are here.

Our two pastors, Rev. Steve McElroy and Rev. Meagan Matthews, can be reached directly via the information on the Our Leaders page. To send both our pastors a prayer request, click the button below.
