Richard Ministry Project

In honor and memory of Richard Williams

The Good News Class is sponsoring The Richard Ministry.

I experienced first hand what a wonderful ministry a single bud vase of flowers given to a hospital patient can be when you feel down and out.  My mother was in the hospital in Myrtle Beach.  Away from home and without friends nearby, my mother and I felt alone.  Then a nurse walked in with a small bud vase of flowers and set it down on the windowsill.  The bud vase was a gift from the King of Glory Lutheran Church to patients who needed some cheer and a blessing.  This is the kind of ministry that Richard was all about, using flowers and doing for others.

  How it works:

Each week the altar flowers would be used to create the bud vases.  Approximately 25 or more bud vases can be created.  A single Gladiola, a piece of fern and a palm leave is all it takes. The bud vases, and ribbon are purchased by the Good News Class. Included on the bud vase is a card with the following message:

Hymn of Promise

In the bulb there is a flower; in the seed, an apple tree; in cocoons a  hidden promise; butterflies will soon be free! In the cold and snow of winter, there’s a Spring that waits to be, Unrevealed until its season, something God alone can see.
